Transitional Kindergarten (TK) has arrived at HBS for the 2023-24 school year!

We are excited to announce that we are currently accepting TK and Kinder applications for Hollywood Beach for the 2023-24 school year. Come by the office and we will be happy to register your child, or see below for more ways to register. We can't wait to have your Littlest Pelicans land in the nest!

Here's all you need to know about registering for TK and Kinder at HBS:

Who is eligible for Transitional Kindergarten (TK)?

  • Children born September 2, 2018 - September 1, 2019 may enroll in transitional kindergarten.

Who is eligible for Kindergarten (K)?

  • Children born September 2, 2017 - September 1, 2018 may enroll in kindergarten.

Will TK be offered at all elementary schools?

  • Yes, TK will be offered at all nine HESD elementary schools.

Can I attend another school besides my home school?

  • Yes, families may submit an intra/inter district transfer application to request to attend a school that is not their home school. Applications are approved as space permits.

  • Where are Spanish bilingual programs offered for TK and K students:

  • Bard and Parkview Elementary Schools offer a Spanish/English dual language immersion program in grades K - 5.

  • Sunkist and Larsen Elementary Schools offer a Spanish bilingual program in grades K - 3. Students transition to English classes in grades 4 and 5.

Is there an after-school program for TK and K students?

  • Yes, the after-school program for TK and K students will operate daily until 5:00pm.

Is the after-school program for TK and K students available at all elementary schools?

How do I enroll my student in TK or Kindergarten?

There are four ways to enroll your student in TK or kindergarten:

PLEASE NOTE: Your student will NOT be fully enrolled until the entire enrollment process has been completed regardless of the option you choose.

OPTION 1: ONLINE NEW STUDENT ENROLLMENT

  • Follow the New Student Enrollment link to complete the online enrollment information. https://hesd.vcoe.org/preenrollment /

  • Supporting enrollment documentation (e.g., proof of residency, health records, birth certificate) may be uploaded at the end of the process.

  • Your home school’s office staff will contact you after you have submitted the enrollment information if there are any questions about your enrollment or to schedule a time for you to take your supporting documents to the school if you did not upload them at the end of the online enrollment process.

OPTION 2: DOWNLOAD NEW STUDENT ENROLLMENT DOCUMENTS

  • Download the New Student Enrollment documents, complete the documents, and email the completed documents to your home school’s office staff.

  • Supporting documentation (e.g., proof of residency, health records, birth certificate) may be uploaded and emailed with the completed documents.

  • Your home school’s office staff will contact you after you have submitted the enrollment information if there are any questions about your enrollment or to schedule a time for you to take your supporting documents to the school if you did not upload them at the end of the online enrollment process.

OPTION 3: PRINT NEW STUDENT ENROLLMENT DOCUMENTS AND DROP-OFF AT HOME SCHOOL SITE

  • Download the New Student Enrollment documents, print the documents, and drop off the completed documents at your home school office during the scheduled drop-off dates/times (see below).

  • Copies of required documents (e.g., proof of residency, health records, birth certificate) will need to be submitted with the enrollment documents.

  • Your school’s office staff will review the enrollment documents several days after being dropped off. An office staff member will contact you after you have submitted the enrollment documents if there are any questions.

OPTION 4: PICK-UP/DROP-OFF NEW STUDENT ENROLLMENT DOCUMENTS AT HOME SCHOOL

  • New Student Enrollment documents will be available for pick-up at your home school office on designated dates/times (see below).

  • Enrollment documents that are picked up will need to be completed off-site. There will not be a designated place for parents to complete the packet on-site.

  • Completed enrollment documents can be dropped off at your home school site.

  • Copies of required documents (e.g., proof of residency, health records, birth certificate) will need to be submitted with the enrollment documents.

  • Your home school’s office staff will review the enrollment documents several days after being dropped off. An office staff member will contact you after you have submitted the enrollment documents if there are any questions.

INTRA-DISTRICT and INTER-DISTRICT TRANSFERS

  • Intra-district transfer form for the 2023-2024 school year will be available January 5, 2023 and can be downloaded, completed and emailed to Tereza Arrieta at tarrieta@hueneme.org .

  • Inter-district transfer forms can be downloaded, completed and emailed to Tereza Arrieta at tarrieta@hueneme.org .
